ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕದಳೀಫಲ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವು!

ಸರಕಾರ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜನೋಪಯೋಗಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವ ಒಳ್ಳೆ ಜನಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ.

I had an opportunity to interact with a Govt. school in Mathikere during year 2003. I really admired the effort of the staff in wanting to provide good meal to the students, within the means set by the government. The staff pooled in to buy some basic necessities to enhance the govt subsidy. As we all know the teachers are the worst paid, inspire of this it was heart rendering to see them part with their own. Ofcourse the meal was little, but what was important was the spirit in providing every child something to eat in the afternoon. This incident really made me change my opinion about govt schools and the staff there.

Like any other situation, there were few politicians who were a part of school betterment committee, and I sincerely felt that the school team would have done much better without the arrogant intervention of the so called external, politically motivated committee members.

It will be nice if students can decide as to what they want as extra, it could be milk, banana or egg. They could make a choice during the beginning of school term and stay with it for a year.

Personally I prefer banana to be given as it is easy to store, distribute and most importantly a rich source of potassium which is required for the high energy activities that children perform. It also relieves the teachers from the extra burden of boiling/storage of eggs/milk.

I am happy that the govt has come forward in taking this extra step, let us hope it will really benifit the children.

Sham Sir,

You said it. But there is a contradiction in your statement. Your readers (we) are not bigger than the young students who voted for Eggs or whatever instead of Milk or Banana. Readers wish is entirely opposite of what the kids have expressed in that survey.

However, I personally feel the kids should be given a choice to select whatever they want. It is the duty of the Govt. to provide them with couple of options..
