‘ಮಲ್ಲಿಗೆ’ ಕವಿ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್‌.ನರಸಿಂಹಸ್ವಾಮಿಗೆ ಥ್ಯಾಂಕ್ಸ್‌

Sir,

I am eternally grateful to KSN for instilling the feelings of romance and love in the hearts and minds of Kannadigas thru his Mysoora Mallige original poetic gems.

In those poems I think he has portrayed and preserved in words the simple and beautiful life style of Kannadigas of his times, just as the magnificent sculptures of Belur and Halebid have permanently carved in stone the beauty and grandeur of our Kannada culture, for eternity. Both works , I think are beautifully simple or simply beautiful and their messages are priceless and timeless.

Although I have happily lived in America for 43 years, yet I have remained at heart an appata Kannadiga and a romantic at that, because of KSNs Maysoora Mallige influence.

I can relate intimately and emotionally to many poems of Mysoora Mallige thru my life experiences. In fact, I feel I am married to a "living Mysoora Mallige" hudugi. As proof I serenaded my dear wife Katyayini thru Mysoora Mallige poems , as part of my talk at our Northern California Sahitya Goshti program last year. Also our friends sang Mysoora Mallige poems at a surprise party for our 25th wedding anniversary in 1993.

On this 65th anniversary of Mysoora Mallige book release, I remember and I thank KSN for helping me lead a happy and fulfilled life of romance and love. I regret I did not have a chance to express my gratitude in person to KSN when he was alive. Alas, I missed such a chance by a few weeks. … par for the course for a romantic. But, Mysoora Mallige is in my romantic DNA.
