ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬೆರಳೆತ್ತಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು!

This is a mail from my end to all the Kannadigas around the world who raised voice in my support and more importantly in love for our language by expressing their concern to Hutch against the disrespect shown.

I am sorry for not replying to you earlier as there were many people supporting the cause and I am also happy to tell you that the situation has been resolved and justice done to Kannada and Kannadigas.

Today (24 Aug 2005) the issue was resolved and here are the details.

• Hutch and Mr. Avinash Talvar have given a written apology to me and all us Kannadigas.
• Hutch went further and have taken action against Mr. Avinash Talvar and have assured the people that every effort will be put forward in making sure that such incidents never happen again by ensuring that all the people in customer care are proficient in Kannada.
• Hutch has further promised that in a short and fixed time, there will be boards and instructions in Kannada across their establishments in the state.
• My issue (with which it all began) has been resolved as well.

I hope that this will be a reminder to all the people and establishments that we Kannadigas are as proud of our language as we are hospitable to others. I also hope that all take a leaf out of Hutchs reaction and make sure that they and their establishments take similar steps.

The struggle in detail :

All this success did not come in one day without effort. This was possible because of meticulous planning and the strong will and drive of not one but many people.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has helped this cause from day one. Namma Narayana Goudru was very helpful in taking up the issue and guiding me to banavasi-balaga, which set the ball into motion. We all planned to make sure that this matter is handled in a very logical way and, to begin with, informing Kannadigas that this has happened.

Banavasi-balaga, the organization of Kannadigas online greatly helped in making all you people get the message.

Once this began, the information reached thousands of Kannadigas across the world in a matter of days. Then, hundreds of mails went to Hutch from all condemning the attitude and the actions of Avinash Talvar against Kannada and us Kannadigas. All of you have also sent mails to me in support and boosted my confidence and resolve.

www.thatskannad.com also provided a platform where many of our Kannadigas can come to know about this grave injustice.

Mr.ShekarPoorna of www.kannadasaahithya.com approached me and helped the cause in a huge way by condemning the act and also giving us a platform where this could reach many of you world wide and communicating also to Hutch as to take heed immediately and seriously.

Most of all – The Kannadigas around the world who, through mail and wishes have stood by me and Kannada and made sure that our heads are held high.

It was the resolve and support of all these people who perused the fight till the end and made sure that our message was sent and a goal was achieved and Kannada and Kannadigas received due apology in a way that is befitting the nature of us Kannadigas.

I am grateful for the way we went about the whole issue without causing any illegal acts and maintained dignity and respectability throughout. This was the sole reason for the victory.

I also request all the people to refrain from any illegal reactions as that will only damage our resolve and tarnish all the respect we have won by standing together in a manner befitting this great land.
