The World Wide Web is a huge pot boiler of information being exchanged all over the world. It is but a difficult task to regulate the information flow on such a massive scale in spite of the multitude ways existing on hand to keep the information secure and unreachable by people involved in dire activities. For those wondering on what basis, we are making a claim so huge, here are the details. Each time, our kannada song portal, the kannadaaudio.com was updated, we were surprised to find that immediately thereafter MIO had the same songs on their website. Once a co-incidence, twice a chance- but this certainly wasn’t a matter of ones and twos.

We have been religiously following this up and in fact have instances when they even flicked the images without even bothering to notice the watermark of our website on them!! So much for careful considerations!- A Watermark is defined as an identification code or bit pattern integrated into multimedia data that aids copyright owners in identifying illegally distributed or used audio, video or image data. In the images attached below, you can clearly identify the watermark on the images as shown.

Now, very recently, in a bid to expose their colors, we purposely uploaded the songs of a yet unreleased movie Akash. But we had the songs from some other movies displayed under its category. It is to be noted that the songs of the aforementioned movie was not yet released to the listeners at that point of time. And lo! MIO without even bothering to verify, lifted (read leeched) it off our website and promptly had it displayed on their song portal. For the benefit of our readers, we have attached the images captured on their website listing the same songs as we have in our website albeit in sheer ignorance of the plot behind it.

So what is the case we are trying to make here? Isn’t it all about ethics on the internet? We buy CDs at our expenses and upload the songs for the benefit of our multitude listeners who have faithfully been lending their support to us by visiting our website for listening to the latest in the Kannada Songs. And yet, a portal that is much larger than us and by all means more profitable, cannot even spend a few bucks to buy the latest kannada song CDs (but can spend thousands on other languages… or who knows they maybe leeched too!!!) resorts to ‘steal’ the songs from our website is really a deplorable act! Add to this that they do not even have the basic courtesy of at least crediting our site! Sure it’s a dog eat dog world out there, filled with competition! But this is sheer exploitation and downright unethical behavior on their part. We strongly demand an explanation for this behavior and an apology from them.

At this juncture, we would also like to apologize to our listeners who were put to inconvenience owing to all this. We were in no mood to update our website from the past 3 months due to this incident. Yet, words fail us to express our heartfelt thanks to all those listeners who continuously visited us and lent us their valuable support. We request you all to stand by us and keep up your support and help us in combating such ignominious sharks out to pollute the internet community behind their veiled masks of popularity.
