Hi,

This is in response to your article on thatskannada.com. While agreeing with you regarding the rest of the truths in your article I dont agree with your claim that the inventor should bear the social responsibility when a given technology is used for evil purposes. The reason is, Your very idea boils down to a very injustice which claims that If a person does a murder his father should be hanged!.

Inventor/scientist does an invention for the sake of society or just accidentally or for fun, whatever. Another scientist would try to improve his work or make some modifications to the former and try to improve it, while, an antisocial element would use the same technology to kill his neighbour, for example. If gun hadnt been invented evil people would have found another novell method to kill others , like a knife. Though, I havent experienced it, I assume that the pain due to killing by a knife is much more intense than if it had been done by a 0.32 pistole. If this is just for the purpose of argument, I would argue that the technology has made death more simple and less painful.

If the argument that "The father should be hanged for the sin of the son" is acceptable, then your claim that "The inventor has a social responsibility over his inventions" is equally acceptable.

Nevertheless, It is a very good article.
