My name is Ram and I live in US. I have been reading your articles on kannada web page. I appreciate and respect your kannada talents. There is no doubt you have lot to give for the kannada readers in the future. I wish I could write this in Baraha, but the emails dont go properly. At the same time I could improve my kannada knowledge also but for now let me do it in English.
That was a good piece of article in general which will hold good for a long time. Let me hit the point straight. When we are growing up we learn life by watching our brothers, sisters, parents society etc. The world is too small now, people from one country follow it from others in a different country. It is easy for me to compare American women to Indian women. There are lot of Indian women in America who should lead the way on these things.
First of all there is no difference between a man and a woman in life, it is just a different role they play in life. Reading our history books I can easily tell, the golden age of Indian society in the past is the same as in America now....may be same in other parts of the world also. The only big difference is spirituality. India was the best in those days in spirituality but except for that, the way of life is pretty much the same, freedom, prosperity and so on. Before a human, man/woman can consider spirituality one should be a normal human being. A boy/girl should grow in life with full freedom without any guide lines of religion or society etc. This is exactly the problem with Indian upbringing. There are too many restrictions.
A plant cannot come to its full potential if it is restricted with sunlight, water etc. In the same way, the human mind needs to be exposed to its fullest potential in its growing period and definitely not curtailed with restrictions. Your articles should be more specific in detail to each of these problems to make a normal human being ( man/woman ) first. As far as women in India is concerned, we have grown back in time. It is the most unfortunate thing because we have miss understood our own religion for a very long time and we are still living in that mess.
I like the articles, the real experiences the Indian American women write in these web sites. For most of the Indians living in India, it happened to me when I was in India, we are so egoistic we dont want to accept any thing new or different. We think we are great but we are not moving anywhere which is a big sign of zero progress. This is a long discussion but let me end this with this example. South Africa beat Australia in the 3rd ODI cricket. The woman who was hosting the award ceremony is a first generation Indian woman.
Her name was Caissy Naidoo, some thing like that. She was so good I wont even compare her with the present Indian ( men ) commentators for India Vs England series. It is a long way, thank you and hopefully we will continue this discussions if this is of any interest to you.
