ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾ ಓಕೆ, ಕೆನಡಾ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅತ್ತತ್ತ...!?

ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ವಲಸಿಗರ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಿ ಬಂದ ಪತ್ರ ಹೊಸ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಲಸಿಗರನ್ನು ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾದಂತೆ ಇತರೆಡೆಯೂ ಕೀಳಾಗಿಯೇ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೆನಡಾಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಮೇಲು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕುಶಲಮತಿಗಳು ಕೆನಡಾಗೆ ಬರಬೇಡಿ ಎನ್ನುವ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ, ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೀರೋ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸುಧಾರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿ... ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಬಂದಿರೋ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ತಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸೂಚನೆ ಈ ಪತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಪತ್ರೋತ್ತರ ಹೊಸ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಗೆಯಲಿ...

Dear Editor,

I read the letter from Mr. Premachandran Rajarathnam about the plight of Indian immigrants to Australia. I would like to say Canada is even worst. These countries which are former Dominions of United Kingdom follow the same colonial attitude of the English,Scot and Irish. They want immigration to supply them with cheap labour and support their elderly by paying tax.

Well educated Indians drive taxis,do factory work,menial labour. Sri Lankans drive taxis,do security guard job,clean toilets,work in restaurants. Philipinos do the hospital work, work as nannies, provide elderly care in nursing homes, in bars as strippers,do escort service. Jamaicans,Haitians,Guyanese,Trinidadians work in factories, as taxi drivers,as nurses,do menial labour etc.

The post secondary education system is very expensive in Canada and the colleges and universities are a rip off. Canada does not pay anthing to new immigrants education and uses the qualification of the immigrants without havinfg spent a dime on it.

Australia is warm through out the year, but Canadian winter is murder. The temperatures in winter go below -20 degrees celcius in Montreal and Toronto,-30 to -40 degrees celcius in Winnipeg, Calgary,Thompson,Regina, Edmonton.

So the poor immigrant has to work in this bitter cold along with others. Adding insult to injury there is a subtle racism. No white guy insults you on your face, but shows it by not providing equal employment, last one to be hired but first one to be fired policy. Human rights laws exists only in books.

Not all immigrants suffer like majority do. It takes at least 10 years to get acclamatised. If some body is timid, then there is more exploitation. If you are vocal and intelligent chances of survival are more.

But there is a silver lining after all this misery. You can still be better off after 25 to 30 years of working, if you are still living to be better off than in India.

So my advise to all the highly skilled people from India, please dont come to Canada and suffer. Try to stay where you are and try to improve your lot. You will regret leaving India and no body cares about you in Canada. if you want make money go to middle east and educate your children in India.

A part of your response on thatskannada.com is offending. The reason is you wrote "go back home" which is a comment on personal level. You could have avoided it while the discussion was "How best is AUS for skilled migrants".

Keeping a discussion in a conceptual level and without trying to "weigh" the author is a skill that one need to develop.
