ಭಯಭೀತ ರಿಂಗ್ ರಸ್ತೆ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು

ಕಳೆದೆರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಿಂಗ್ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಜನನಿಬಿಡವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಜನ ಭೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಜೀವಿಸುವಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಸುಲಿಗೆಗಳಂತೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ 'ಅಪರಾಧಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ' ವಿಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹಾರವಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಅನೇಕ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀದಿದೀಪಗಳಿಲ್ಲ, ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಗಸ್ತಂತೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ಜನರು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಿಂದ ಬದುಕುವುದೆಂತು? ಹೆದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಗಲಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡೇ ಬದುಕು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಾಗರಿಕರೊಬ್ಬರ ಪತ್ರ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಗಡ್ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಬೀಳುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಲಿ.

Dear Editor,

I'm a resident of Malgal, i.e., the area which comes after Pattegarpallya if you come from Prashantnagar else near Sumnanahalli i.e., the new ring road. We rented a house in this area around three months back.

Now the problem is, they are constructing a bridge across the drainage on the road that connects the new ring road and Prashantnagar. Three months back itself the construction is finished but every 15 days that road is blocked again and again as they dig the place around the bridge. Due to which we will have to come through the ring road itself.

Two months back another resident in the same building who was coming at night through the new ring road around 10:30PM was threatened by few people who came with knife and snatched away his purse, mobile etc. And some guys even follow the people who walk from the Summnhalli cross to Malgal and threaten on the way.

Recently a cab person who had come to pick me at 3:00 AM had parked his vehicle near the house and sleeping inside for 4:00 AM pickup some person started knocking the vehicle door and that driver is scared to come to our area for the pick up at that time. And listening to his story even other cab drivers are also denying to come for pick up/drop during night to Malgal.

Yesterday evening I myself experienced. I reached home around 7:00 PM and there was a power cut by 7:15 PM. I had locked the house door from inside and I was preparing food and I heard someone trying to open the door lock from outside, by the time I reached the door and try to see from the window, I didn't find anyone. Again after sometime I heard someone knocking the door. When I asked who was it, there was no reply. I didn't open the door again. I saw through the window and didn't find anyone. I was very scared yesterday.

I'm feeling that the place is not at all secured; I haven't seen any policeman in that area for our security purpose. Once in a while in the afternoon one policeman come on the bike take one round in the area and goes off. Something has to be done for the security of the people staying there. Sometimes we will have to stay at home alone also. I'm worried how a person will stay alone if there is no security in the area.

I don't know who will help us (people staying in Malgal).
