ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆಗಳೂ ಮೂರು : ಭಾವನೆಗಳೂ ನೂರು

Hello,

This is my opinion/experience with SSLC exam time. Though i was in a small taluk place during that time(in North Karnataka) - 1994, had a great zeal to face SSLC exam. Had put lot of efforts from the beginning itself. There were 3 schools in the town, one boys high school, one girls high school and one private co-ed school. There was a tough competition among few of us. And teachers were very curious about our performance. When ever i saw the school board where the list of people who scored highest marks, i dreamt of my name to be written for that year. Some times felt scared thinking about if that doent happen. Had a good encourage from teachers and my father as well for the preparation.

With enough tests, revisions, preliminary exams, I was mentally well prepared to face the final exam. Our school was not authorised to be a centre for final exams. So we all had to go to boys high school to write the exams which was quite far. I was determined to do my best, but still had exam fear/tension. I did well in all the exams. But was not very happy about my maths paper since i realised that i did a mistake for 2 marks. And Science, Hindi papers were also ok.

Great day was announced for the results!. And from previous day iteslf i was tensed. More than about the percentage i was worried about whether i will stand first to the school or not. My Uncle was also there at home that time. He said, he will try to find the result if possible and left the house around 5:30 PM in the evening. I got tensed with that, since i was mentally prepared to face the result next day. I was bit restless till my Uncle came back(there was no result announcement on the net that time). He came back smiling and was asking me to get the sweets ready.

I was asking him how much marks i got and Etc...............and finally he told me that i have stood first not only to the school but also to the taluk. That was enough! I was happy and couldnt sleep whole night. My Uncle was some how able to manage to get the marks details also. Though marks were less in some subjects and more in some subjects than the estimated, overall percentage was as expected. And many people were talking about me getting good percentage.

Scoring 88.8% in such a small taluk place where we hardly had a good facilities had come as a surprise to many. I still remember we didnt have teachers for English and social studies.

A teacher from Urdu school used to come to our school to teach english subject, but could hardly take few classes. I myself was surprised to see my score in Kannada subject. My Kannada score was 118 for 125. Just 7 marks less! And my father was feeling quite proud. All his colleagues were asking about his daughters score, asking sweets Etc. And i still feel happy for making my father proud at that time. Though he is still proud for what i am today, i cherish that period when my father was quite proud of my SSLC results. After the results, lot of facilitations were conducted by various organisations, units, schools. Those are really sweet, proud, cherishable memories. Thanks to thatskannada for making me nostalgic and giving an opportunity to express the same.

With Best Rregards,

- Sushama
