ಉತ್ತರಾಖಂಡ್ ಚಮೋಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಹಿಮಪರ್ವತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರಿ ಹಿಮಪಾತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ನದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರವಾಹ ಭೀತಿ ಎದುರಾಗಿತ್ತು. ರೇನಿ, ದೌಲಿಗಂಗಾ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅಪಾಯದ ಮೀರಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಹಿಮಪಾತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಬಿಟ್ಟ 30 ಜನರ ಮೃತದೇಹಗಳು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಒಂದೇ ಸುರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 35 ಜನರು ಸಿಲುಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಶಂಕಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಡಿಜಿಪಿ ಅಶೋಕ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಅನುಕೂಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಪತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ಸೋಮವಾರವೇ 20 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಸಿಎಂ ತ್ರಿವೇಂದ್ರ ಸಿಂಗ್ ರಾವತ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರು. ಮೃತರ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ತಲಾ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಪರಿಹಾರ ನೀಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
