just now watched Jayanth Kaikini's Talk. ಅವರ ತಂದೆಯವರು ಯಾರೇ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಕವಿತೆ ತಂದು ತೋರಿಸಿದರೂ ಹೊಗಳಿ ಹೊಗಳಿ ಬೆನ್ನು ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಂತೆ. ಮಗ ಕಾಯ್ಕಿಣಿ "ಅಪ್ಪ ಹೀಗೇಕೆ ಮಾಡ್ತೀರಿ ಆ ಕವಿತೆ ಚಂದವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಆತ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾತು ನಂಬಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ" ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅಪ್ಪ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಂತೆ "ಆತ ಕೊಲೆ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಅಥವಾ ಇನ್ನಾವುದೇ ಸಮಾಜಘಾತುಕ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗದೆ ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದರೆ ಅಷ್ಟರಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಆತ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ" ಅಂತ. ನಮ್ಮ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮದವರ್ರೂ ಇಂಥ ಸದ್ವಿಚಾರದಿಂದಲೇ ಹೀಗಿದ್ದಾರೇನೋ?
