A
brief
background
of
Vontikoppal
Panchanga:
In 1885, (118 years ago) for the first time a panchanga was prepared in Kannada Language by the late Asthana Maha Vidwan Thammaiah Sastry of Chamarajanagar. He was honored by the Maharaja of Mysore with various titles. After publishing it for 35 years, his son Late T.V.Venkata Krishna Sastry of Vontikopla(V.V.Mohalla) published it for 30 years.
Then
his
son
Mr.Ramakrishna
Sastry
published
it
for
35
years
&
still
he
is
guiding
his
son
and
grandson.
Now
his
son
Mr.
R.Kumar
is
publishing
it
for
the
last
18
years.
Vontikoppal
Panchanga
is
famous
like

*Sampadakarige Namaskara,
I am a regular visitor to thatskannada website. I was just thinking if you can have a small space for daily panchaga saying that days vara, nakshtra, rahukala, tithi and any special event of that day like any festival etc. It would be nice to know all these becuase even though many people have panchagas from India, because of the time difference it would be nice to have every day religious information here for our kannda readers. I also wanted to know that one of the kannada snaghas here in U.S.A have obtained the rights to sell Ontikoppal Panchaga. If you know anything about that or about that particular sangha can you please provide me with their contact information. Thanks a lot,
